A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Mieseigha Julius Okoya, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, seeking to represent Yenagoa Constituency II in the forthcoming elections.

Okoya, in a statement, said his decision was driven by humility and a strong sense of responsibility to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to the development of the constituency.
According to him, extensive consultations with stakeholders, party leaders, and grassroots members revealed a growing need for a representative who is accessible, responsive, and attentive to the concerns of the people.

He noted that his aspiration is anchored on a leadership approach that is thoughtful, inclusive, and focused on addressing the pressing needs of constituents.

Outlining his priorities, Okoya pledged to promote effective legislation by supporting and sponsoring bills aimed at improving the social and economic wellbeing of the people. He also emphasized the importance of infrastructural development, stating that he would collaborate with relevant agencies and stakeholders to attract projects capable of enhancing living standards across the constituency.
On empowerment, the APC aspirant highlighted plans to support initiatives that expand opportunities for youth and women, particularly in the areas of skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and economic participation.

Okoya further assured constituents of his commitment to transparency and accountability, promising to keep the people informed and involved in matters that affect them.

“I will be guided by integrity, diligence, and respect for the people,” he stated, while appealing for support, guidance, and prayers as he seeks his party’s nomination and the mandate to serve.

He expressed optimism that, with collective effort, Yenagoa Constituency II can achieve greater progress and inclusiveness.
