Ikpemini Has The Capacity To Take Ohafia To The Promised Land--- Chief Fab Uche ......Urges New OIU Leadership To Govern Without Fear, Promote Unity, Development
The former Interim President General of the Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU) Incorporated and internationally acclaimed business mogul, Chief Fab Uche, has said that the newly elected President General of the organisation, Chief Prince Kalu Ikpemini has all it takes to take Ohafia to the envisaged promised land and Eldorado.
This is even as he charged the newly elected executives of the union to lead with courage, positivity and a deep sense of responsibility to the people.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, shortly after the inauguration of the new leadership, Chief Uche expressed confidence in the capacity of Chief Ikpemini to positively turn around the fortunes of Ohafia in the next four years, citing his business acumen and managerial experience as key strengths that would translate into
effective administration.
"If someone can build a business empire that employs many people, there is no reason such a person cannot successfully manage the affairs of the union," he said.
Chief Uche, who hails from Ndi Uduma Awoke Ohafia Community, therefore, urged Chief Ikpemini and his team to rule without fear of failure and to place the protection of community interests above personal considerations.
He emphasised the need for proactive leadership that would sustain the peace currently enjoyed in Ohafia and even improve on it.
“Ohafia is comparatively peaceful when measured against other communities. The new leadership must build on this peace and ensure that every part of the community is protected from activities capable of disrupting harmony,” he said.
Responding to questions on concerns raised by stakeholders over issues of commercial activities and water supply in the area, the OIU former Interim President General acknowledged existing challenges but expressed confidence that practical solutions would be found through effective leadership and collaboration.
“I may not know everything about water management, but I believe that under a committed leadership, a way will be found to ensure that the people have access to water,” he stated.
Chief Uche also called on the people of Ohafia to give their full cooperation to the new executives, stressing that community support is critical to the success of the administration.
“I appeal to the entire Ohafia people to cooperate fully with the new executive. They need your support to ensure that this mandate succeeds,” he declared.
Reflecting on the just-concluded election, the business mogul described the process as keenly contested but peaceful, noting that there were no protests. He explained that his role as interim president was to midwife a credible transition, a task he said was successfully accomplished.
“The election was peaceful, there were no protests, and a new direction was set. My mandate was to midwife a new executive properly, and that has been achieved,” he said, expressing satisfaction with the outcome.
Looking ahead to the next four years, Chief Uche said his expectation for Ohafia is accelerated development driven by industrialisation, job creation and increased awareness among the people.
“We want to see development that touches households directly. Industrialisation will create employment, raise awareness and improve the overall standard of living of our people,” he said.
He concluded by reiterating his charge to the new leadership to remain focused, united and committed to the progress of Ohafia.
