Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has formally decorated newly promoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Samuel Ebikebina Debekeme, in a brief ceremony attended by top government and security officials.
Debekeme, a native of Ndoro community in Ekeremor Local Government Area, was recently elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police in recognition of his service and professionalism in the Nigeria Police Force.
Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Diri congratulated the officer on his well-deserved promotion, describing it as a testament to hard work, discipline, and dedication to duty. He urged the newly promoted DCP to remain steadfast and committed in the discharge of his responsibilities.
“I congratulate you on your new promotion. It shows that hard work and diligence pay off. I encourage you to continue to be hardworking and diligent,” the governor stated.
Diri also used the occasion to encourage Bayelsans in various professional careers to remain focused and committed, noting that diligence and perseverance are key to achieving success and recognition.
“I also want to use this opportunity to encourage our dear career Bayelsans to remain focused and diligent to reap the fruits of their labour,” he added.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Leader of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday Bubou Obolo; Coordinator of the Bayelsa Community Safety Corps, Gen. Eric Angaye (Rtd); Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16, Johnson Adenola; and the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Iyamah Daniel, alongside other senior government and police officials.
The decoration ceremony underscores the state government’s continued recognition of Bayelsans excelling in their respective fields, particularly in national service and security.
