The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, last night joined Christian faithful to celebrate the Easter Cantata at the King’s of Glory Chapel, Government House, Yenagoa, where he called on the people of the state to continue to embrace love, unity, and peaceful coexistence.
Governor Diri, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Gloria Diri, emphasized the importance of the Easter season as a time for reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to harmonious living among citizens.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe and his wife, Dr. Favour Akpe; former Deputy Governors, Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi and Rtd. Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah; the Leader of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday Bubou Obolo; members of the State Executive Council; lawmakers; top government functionaries; and the Chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM King Bubaraye Dakolo, alongside other religious leaders and faithful.
The event featured soul-lifting hymns and musical renditions by various choir groups, creating an atmosphere of reverence and celebration in commemoration of the Easter season.
The Easter Cantata is part of activities marking the Christian celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, observed globally as a symbol of hope, renewal, and victory of life over death.
