Diri Confers ‘Social Media Engineer’ Title On Aide, Hails Media Excellence

Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has conferred the title of “Social Media Engineer” on his Technical Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Wisdom Oniekpar Ikuli, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to strategic communication and digital media engagement.

The honour was bestowed on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, as part of efforts by the state government to acknowledge professionalism and innovation in the dissemination of its Assured Prosperity agenda.
Governor Diri commended Ikuli for his effective and responsible use of social media platforms in projecting government policies, programmes, and achievements to a wider audience. He noted that such dedication has significantly enhanced public awareness and engagement with the administration’s vision.

Meanwhile, preparations have intensified for the commissioning of the state’s 60-megawatt gas turbine project, described as a major milestone in Bayelsa’s power infrastructure development. The project is expected to be inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the coming days.
The commissioning, which is already generating excitement across the state, is anticipated to boost electricity supply and drive economic growth in Bayelsa.

In his reaction, Ikuli expressed gratitude to the governor for the recognition, reaffirming his commitment to leveraging media platforms to promote government initiatives and foster greater connection with the people.
He also reiterated optimism ahead of the turbine inauguration, describing it as a “glorious and historic moment” for the state.
