Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, on Saturday attended the church wedding of Miss Olayemi Pinnick and Mr. Oduwa Ashley Bazuaye in Warri, Delta State.
The ceremony, held at First Baptist Church, Warri, brought together prominent political figures, sports administrators, and other dignitaries from across the country.
The bride, Olayemi Pinnick, is the daughter of Amaju Melvin Pinnick, a former President of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Among the dignitaries present were Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau, former Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, and former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, among other notable personalities.
Governor Diri, who chaired the wedding reception, delivered a brief admonition to the couple, emphasizing the uniqueness of every marriage and the importance of love and mutual understanding.
“Today, we are gathered to celebrate love. To the couple, today is your day, and you have come into one school that no man graduates,” he said.
He advised the couple to focus on their shared experiences rather than external opinions, noting that no two marriages are the same. According to him, listening to the “voice of love” between partners remains key to sustaining a successful union.
