Apostle Gift Chinyere Changes Aboy's Name To Elijah, Celebrates WORLD Autism Day With Special Needs Children
The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, on April 2, 2026, marked World Autism Day with children of the OPM Free School for Autism and Down Syndrome, in a celebration filled with compassion, inclusion, and generosity.
Highlighting the event was the official renaming of Aboy to Elijah Chibuzor by the cleric. According to Apostle Chinyere, the young man was brought to his residence without clear information regarding his identity, including his name, age, or place of origin. He explained that the decision to rename him reflects a new sense of identity and belonging.
The cleric also noted that determining Elijah’s exact age remains difficult, as only his biological parents can accurately confirm it. He added that physical appearance can sometimes be misleading, as some individuals may look older or younger than their actual age.
The event also saw Elijah in attendance with his wife, alongside other guests, as the children of the school participated in activities to commemorate the global awareness day.
As part of efforts to support their learning, Apostle Chinyere distributed iPads to each child enrolled in the OPM Free School for Autism and Down Syndrome. He stated that the devices would enhance their educational experience and aid their learning process.
In addition, cartons of audiobooks titled “Phonics for All,” donated by a business partner based in China, were presented to the school through the President of Divine Distributors of OPM. The materials are expected to further support the children’s academic development.
In a touching moment during the celebration, some of the autistic children presented wedding gifts to a former schoolmate, symbolizing unity and inclusion within the school community.
Apostle Chinyere reaffirmed that all initiatives of the OPM Free School are fully funded through tithes and offerings from members of the church, demonstrating the ministry’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and promoting inclusive education.
