President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound gratitude to Nigerians for their outpouring of goodwill and support as he marked his 74th birthday, using the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to national development and ongoing reforms.
In a special message addressed to citizens on Saturday, the President thanked Nigerians across the country and in the diaspora for their prayers, messages, and demonstrations of solidarity. He acknowledged individuals and groups who went the extra mile to celebrate him through newspaper publications and paid broadcast messages on radio and television.
President Tinubu also extended appreciation to the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her heartfelt tribute, as well as to Vice President Kashim Shettima for his kind remarks.
The President noted that, in keeping with his tradition of aligning personal celebrations with the national mood, he opted for a low-key observance of his birthday this year.
Reflecting on the journey so far, Tinubu acknowledged the economic and social challenges confronting the nation since the inception of his administration’s reform agenda. However, he expressed optimism that the sacrifices made by Nigerians are beginning to yield results, pointing to what he described as “a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel,” despite global pressures, including the ongoing Middle East crisis.
He emphasized that the modest gains recorded by his administration are a collective achievement, crediting Nigerians for their resilience, patriotism, and unwavering support.
“As we approach the third anniversary of this administration, it is my firm belief that we will succeed in building a brighter future for our people and generations yet unborn,” the President stated.
Reiterating his government’s resolve to tackle prevailing challenges, Tinubu called for continued unity and cooperation among citizens, stressing that national progress requires shared responsibility.
He urged Nigerians to remain steadfast and hopeful, assuring them that his administration remains focused on delivering a stronger, more prosperous, and resilient nation capable of reclaiming its pride of place on the African continent.
The President concluded his message with a note of appreciation and renewed determination to serve the country with dedication.
