Forms Distribution Concludes for Bayelsa Skills Acquisition Programme Phase 4

The Bayelsa State Government has concluded the distribution of application forms for the fourth phase of the Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme initiated by Governor Douye Diri.

The next stage—selection of beneficiaries—is expected to commence soon, following the successful exercise across the eight Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

The Technical Adviser on Entrepreneurship Development, Charity Kens Godwin, led the distribution process, working closely with key stakeholders and community leaders to ensure that the forms reached the intended beneficiaries.
Under Phase 4 of the programme, participants will be trained in 24 skill areas spanning technology, vocational trades, and agribusiness. These include Artificial Intelligence tools, web and app development, animation, digital marketing, graphic design, content creation, as well as practical skills such as catering, fashion design, solar and electrical works, cosmetology, fish farming, welding, and generator repairs, among others.

A total of 32,100 applicants collected forms during the exercise. Nembe recorded the highest turnout with 6,500 applicants, followed by Yenagoa with 6,200, and Southern Ijaw with 5,650.
Other LGAs include Sagbama with 5,350 applicants, Brass (4,180), Kolokuma/Opokuma (4,150), Ekeremor (3,220), and Ogbia with 3,100 applicants.

Training for selected participants is scheduled to begin in May 2026 and will run for two months at designated centres across the various LGAs.

Mrs. Godwin commended Governor Diri for sustaining the initiative, noting that it continues to equip Bayelsans with practical skills for self-reliance. She also expressed appreciation to political leaders and stakeholders who supported the distribution exercise across the state.
