Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South zone to remain united and work with a shared vision to strengthen the party’s prospects in the region.
Fubara made the call during the APC South-South Zonal Congress held in Asaba, noting that unity and collective purpose are essential for achieving the party’s goals, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, only a cohesive leadership can effectively drive the party’s agenda and improve its electoral fortunes in the zone.
> “We can only achieve our goal when we are united and we work together. I strongly believe this is the right time, the right people and the right place. My charge to those elected today is that the responsibility will be demanding, but I am confident they will deliver for our party,” the governor stated.
The Rivers governor expressed confidence in the capacity of the newly elected zonal leadership to meet expectations, while also appreciating the Delta State Government for hosting the congress. He added that the South-South region holds strong potential for the party’s growth.
The congress, which attracted top APC stakeholders from across the zone, witnessed the re-election of the zonal leadership through a consensus arrangement. The officials were subsequently inaugurated at the event.
Among dignitaries present were the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio; Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State; Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State; Governor Umo Eno; Governor Bassey Otu; and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State.
Also in attendance were members of the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly from across the South-South zone.
The event underscored the APC’s renewed push for cohesion and strategic positioning in the region ahead of future electoral contests.
