Youth Sunday: Dcn. Braide Daminabo Charges Believers on “The Necessity of Fire”

Worshippers at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Gethsemane Parish, were stirred to renewed spiritual commitment on Sunday as Deacon Braide Daminabo delivered a passionate sermon titled “The Necessity of Fire” during the church’s Youth Sunday Service.

Preaching from Exodus 3:1–3, Dcn. Daminabo emphasized that spiritual “fire” remains the activating force of the Church and the evidence of God’s manifest presence among His people. He warned that when a church or fellowship loses its fire, it risks spiritual stagnation, fear, and oppression.

According to him, many believers shy away from leadership roles, including participation in governance and societal development, because they perceive such spaces as battlefields. However, he noted that the real challenge is not the battlefield itself but the absence of spiritual power and conviction among believers.

Drawing further references from the book of Ezekiel, the cleric explained that Scripture consistently portrays God’s appearance as fire — symbolizing power, purity, and divine presence. He cited the encounter of Moses with God in the burning bush, noting that although Moses was 80 years old at the time, the divine fire transformed him into a deliverer and national leader.

“This has nothing to do with age,” he stated, urging the youths and the entire congregation to seek a fresh encounter with God that ignites purpose and boldness.

He concluded by challenging worshippers with a probing question: “You are a child of God — where is your fire?”

The Youth Sunday service was marked by fervent prayers and renewed commitment, as members responded to the call for spiritual revival and impactful leadership.
