TSA to Block Leakages, Boost Revenue in A’Ibom — Gov Eno

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the full implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA), describing it as a decisive step toward boosting internally generated revenue (IGR) and strengthening financial accountability across the state.

Governor Eno made this known during an engagement with revenue officers and key stakeholders, where he emphasized that the TSA would eliminate leakages, enhance transparency and enforce strict fiscal discipline across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
According to the governor, the state can no longer tolerate a system where agencies generate revenue, spend it independently and still receive monthly imprest from government coffers. He declared that such practices undermine accountability and weaken the financial structure of the state.

“The era of revenue fragmentation is over. All revenues must be centrally accounted for to ensure transparency and responsible governance,” the governor stated.
He explained that under the TSA framework, all government revenues will be consolidated into a unified account structure, while operational funds for MDAs will be processed through an automated and standardized system. This, he said, would enable real-time monitoring, reduce human interference and block avenues for diversion of public funds.

Governor Eno also linked the TSA reform to his administration’s ongoing digital transformation drive. He disclosed that recent payroll audits uncovered over 2,000 unaccredited workers within the state Civil Service, a development he described as a significant breakthrough in sanitizing the system.

To address the issue, the government has introduced a mobile-enabled self-verification payroll platform, allowing civil servants to confirm their employment details seamlessly. The initiative, he noted, has improved data integrity and reinforced confidence in the state’s payroll system.
He maintained that the TSA is not merely a financial policy but a strategic reform aimed at building a transparent and resilient economic structure that will outlive his administration and secure long-term fiscal stability for Akwa Ibom State.

Stakeholders at the meeting reportedly welcomed the reform, describing it as a bold and necessary measure to institutionalize accountability and restore public trust in government financial operations.
