A prospective international aviation company has taken a significant step toward establishing operations in Rivers State, as its delegation paid a high-level familiarization visit to Rumueme Kingdom to explore a long-term strategic partnership with the host community.
The delegation was formally received by His Royal Majesty, Nyenwe-Eli and Paramount Ruler of Rumueme Kingdom, Dr. Larry Azunda Nsirim, alongside the Chairman and members of the Rumueme Kingdom Council of Traditional Rulers, as well as representatives of the Rumueme Kingdom Youth Council.
The visit, described by stakeholders as both symbolic and strategic, underscores the growing interest of international investors in community-centered development models that prioritize inclusivity, transparency, and local empowerment.
Company Signals Respect for Traditional Institutions
Speaking during the engagement, the Managing Director of the aviation firm, Mr. Jasmeet Lamba, expressed appreciation to the monarch and the Kingdom for the warm reception accorded his team. He outlined the company’s global operational focus and reaffirmed its commitment to respecting host communities and their traditional leadership structures.
Mr. Lamba emphasized that the company’s entry strategy is rooted in partnership rather than mere presence. According to him, transparent engagement, structured communication channels, and sustained collaboration with community leaders would form the bedrock of the proposed relationship.
He further revealed that the company intends to prioritize qualified professionals from Rumueme Kingdom in its recruitment drive. To ensure meaningful local participation, he announced plans for structured training programmes designed to bridge skill gaps and develop competent indigenous technical teams.
“Our goal is to build capacity within the host community,” he noted, adding that the company envisions continuous dialogue with the Kingdom to guarantee accountability, operational efficiency, and shared prosperity.
Monarch Seeks Concrete Guarantees for Indigenes
In his response, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Larry Azunda Nsirim, commended the delegation for its proactive approach and recognition of the Kingdom’s traditional authority. He described the visit as timely and consistent with Rumueme Kingdom’s renewed focus on progressive development and strategic economic partnerships.
While welcoming the proposal in principle, the monarch stressed the importance of clearly defined safeguards to protect employment opportunities for indigenes. He called for concrete commitments that would guarantee meaningful participation of Rumueme sons and daughters across various sectors of the proposed operations.
Particularly, the Royal Father advocated expanded opportunities for youths of the Kingdom, including roles in administration, engineering, aviation technology, and pilot training programmes — areas he described as critical for long-term empowerment and technical advancement.
He assured the visiting team of the Kingdom’s openness to constructive dialogue and pledged institutional support as discussions progress toward formalizing a partnership framework.
A Potential Boost for Local Aviation and Youth Empowerment
Observers say the proposed partnership, if realized, could mark a significant milestone in strengthening aviation-related investments within the region while simultaneously promoting grassroots economic development.
With both parties expressing optimism and commitment to sustained engagement, the visit signals the beginning of what could evolve into a mutually beneficial alliance — one anchored on respect for tradition, local capacity building, and inclusive growth.
Further consultations are expected in the coming weeks as stakeholders work toward drafting a structured agreement to guide the long-term collaboration.
