No fewer than 5,000 women across Rivers State are set to benefit from a ₦100,000 empowerment grant under the Rivers Women Support Stimulus (RWSS), a major social intervention aimed at boosting women’s economic resilience and household stability.
Under the programme, a minimum of 200 women from each of the 23 Local Government Areas of the state will receive ₦100,000 each. The initiative also extends to market women and non-indigenes resident in Rivers State, ensuring wide-reaching and inclusive participation.
The empowerment scheme is being implemented by Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS) in partnership with the Governor Siminalayi Fubara–led administration, as part of ongoing efforts to uplift vulnerable women and expand economic opportunities at the grassroots.
According to organisers, the intervention is specifically targeted at women in need, with a strong focus on improving household welfare, supporting small-scale businesses, enhancing productivity, and strengthening women’s roles in community development across the state.
The Rivers Women Support Stimulus underscores the Fubara administration’s commitment to inclusive, people-centred governance, while positioning women as critical drivers of social and economic growth in Rivers State.
