Enugu, Nigeria — The leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on Tuesday joined Vice President Kashim Shettima and other top government officials at the South East Regional Development Stakeholders Forum in Enugu, reaffirming the Commission’s commitment to coordinated, inclusive and sustainable regional development.
The NDDC delegation was led by the Chairman of its Governing Board, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, Esq., alongside the Bayelsa State representative on the Board, Senator Dimaro Denyanbofa, and senior members of the Commission’s management.
The high-level forum, held at the International Conference Centre, Okpara Square, Enugu, focused on articulating a long-term development blueprint for the South East under the theme “South East Vision 2050 (SEV 2050)”.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the Managing Director of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, described the forum as a timely and strategic initiative that underscores the Federal Government’s resolve to drive development through synergy among regions and institutions.
“Development is most impactful when it is planned collaboratively and executed with clear alignment to national priorities,” Ogbuku said. “The South East Vision 2050 initiative reflects the kind of long-term, people-centred planning that the NDDC supports, and we are committed to working with sister regional commissions and state governments to ensure shared prosperity.”
The forum was graced by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima; the Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh; governors of the five South East states, including the host governor, Dr. Peter Mbah of Enugu State; as well as heads of key federal agencies and development institutions.
Organisers said the engagement was designed to strengthen Federal–State collaboration, harmonise regional development priorities and ensure that state-level strategies align with national development objectives under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Convened by the South East Development Commission (SEDC) in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President, the Ministry of Regional Development, and South East state governments, the forum provided a platform for translating policy discussions into implementation-ready interventions.
Officials at the event described the forum as a critical step toward building a shared development pathway that leverages partnerships, improves inter-agency coordination and accelerates socio-economic growth across the South East and adjoining regions.
