Fubara Inspects Old Port Harcourt Township Roads, Assures Residents of Urban Renewal Drive

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to urban renewal as he inspected ongoing rehabilitation works on major road networks in the old Port Harcourt township.

Governor Fubara made this known on Tuesday during an inspection tour of the historic area, where he expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work. He said the objective of the road rehabilitation is to restore the township to its former glory by improving infrastructure and reviving its unique and beautiful ambiance.
During the visit, the governor also stopped at the Creek Road Market, which is being reconstructed into a modern market complex. He explained that the project is aimed at eliminating street trading, enhancing environmental cleanliness, and providing a safer, more organized space for traders.

Governor Fubara further disclosed that once the market project is completed, Creek Road will be fully rehabilitated to give the area a facelift that reflects the historic nature of the old Port Harcourt township.
He noted that the projects form part of his administration’s broader urban renewal and economic revitalisation agenda, adding that improved infrastructure would stimulate commercial activities and improve living standards.

The governor assured residents that, despite prevailing challenges, his administration remains focused on delivering good governance and fulfilling its promises to the people of Rivers State.
