Fire Outbreak Hits Oro-Owo Community as Rumueme Monarch Calls for Improved Safety Measures

Rumueme, Rivers State — His Royal Majesty, Nyenwe-Eli Dr. Larry Azunda Nsirim, the Nyenwe-Eli of Rumueme Kingdom, has expressed deep sympathy with residents of Oro-Owo Community following a fire outbreak that occurred on Sunday, February 1, 2026, assuring the public that no lives were lost and no injuries recorded.

In a statement issued by The Palace of the Nyenwe-Eli, the monarch thanked Almighty God that the incident did not result in casualties, despite the distress and disruption caused to affected families and businesses.

A fire outbreak engulfed parts of Oro-Owo Community, causing damage to property before it was brought under control.

The blaze was swiftly contained through the combined efforts of the Rivers State Government Fire Service and the Oando Energy Fire Service, whose prompt intervention helped minimize damage.

His Royal Majesty also commended the Rumueme Kingdom Youth President, Hon. Owhornogu Nyeche, alongside other community members, for their quick mobilization and coordination, which supported emergency responders and prevented further destruction.

The monarch noted that fire incidents pose recurring risks to lives and livelihoods, emphasizing the need for proactive prevention.

He urged all residents of Rumueme Kingdom to strengthen fire safety practices in homes, businesses, and public spaces, stressing vigilance, community cooperation, and shared responsibility as key measures to prevent future outbreaks.
