Students across tertiary institutions in Ebonyi State have commenced a campus-wide Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise as part of efforts to demonstrate appreciation for the education-friendly policies of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative, which has already taken place at the Ebonyi State University and the Ebonyi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ngbo, recorded significant student participation, with undergraduates turning out in large numbers to register and update their voter details.
The exercise is being coordinated under the supervision of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Mobilization, Princess Angel Odono, whose efforts have been widely commended by students and youth leaders across the state. Organizers described the PVC drive as a strategic move to deepen civic responsibility among young people while aligning with the governor’s vision of inclusive governance and youth engagement.
Speaking during the outreach, student representatives noted that the administration of Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has significantly impacted the education sector through infrastructure upgrades, improved learning environments, and policies aimed at enhancing student welfare. They said the PVC registration campaign is a way of encouraging greater political participation among students who are beneficiaries of ongoing reforms.
Observers say the initiative underscores the growing political consciousness among youths in Ebonyi State, particularly within higher institutions, where voter education and mobilization have gained momentum in recent months.
The campus-wide registration exercise is expected to extend to other tertiary institutions across the state in the coming weeks, further consolidating efforts to ensure that eligible students are fully registered and prepared to participate in the 2027 electoral process.
