Breaking: Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei Killed in US-Israel Strikes

In a dramatic escalation of conflict in the Middle East, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has reportedly been killed following coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel, senior officials told Reuters on Saturday. Israeli authorities claim his body was found in the rubble of explosions that devastated Tehran, though Tehran has not confirmed the report.

According to the Associated Press, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there are “growing signs” that Khamenei was killed during the joint offensive, but there has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities or the U.S. government at the time of reporting.

Khamenei, 86, was Iran’s highest political and religious authority since 1989, wielding ultimate control over the Islamic Republic’s military, government, and decision‑making structures. Under his leadership, Iran expanded its influence across the Middle East and supported allied militia groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas.

The strikes, which began early Saturday, targeted multiple sites across Iran, including military facilities, air defenses, and leadership compounds. Iran responded with waves of missile and drone attacks against Israeli territory and U.S. military bases in the region, heightening fears of a wider conflict.

Iranian officials have so far disputed claims about Khamenei’s death. The Foreign Ministry described earlier reports as unverified, and state media did not confirm casualties involving the supreme leader.

The international community has reacted with alarm, with the United Nations calling for restraint amid concerns that the conflict could destabilize global oil markets and regional security.

This remains a rapidly developing situation, and Opera News will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
