Bayelsa Govt Orders Thorough Probe into Death of Peresuodei Abbah

The Bayelsa State Government has expressed deep condolences to the family and community of Mr. Peresuodei Ondutimi Abbah of Amassoma Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, following his death under circumstances that have attracted public concern.

In a press statement issued by the Office of the Honorable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, the state government assured that it is taking decisive legal steps to ensure that anyone found culpable in the incident is held accountable in accordance with the law.

According to the statement, Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has directed the Ministry of Justice to take special interest in the matter. Acting on this directive, the Ministry, under the leadership of the Attorney-General, is working closely with the Bayelsa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to ensure a comprehensive, impartial, and transparent investigation.

The Attorney-General’s Office disclosed that investigations into the circumstances surrounding Abbah’s death are already at an advanced stage, with critical information and statements from potential witnesses successfully obtained. The government reiterated its commitment to leaving no stone unturned in uncovering the truth.

The statement further revealed that upon the conclusion of investigations by the police, the Office of the Attorney-General will formally take over the matter for onward prosecution.

While reiterating the state’s commitment to justice, the government appealed to members of the public to remain calm, avoid speculation, and refrain from spreading unverified information that could jeopardize investigations or heighten tensions.
