The Bayelsa State Government has approved the appointment of 18 new Permanent Secretaries to strengthen the civil service and improve administrative efficiency across ministries, departments and agencies. The appointments were authorised by His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, following recommendations from the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission.
In a statement issued by Mr. Buruboyefe Perekiye John, Chairman of the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission, the new appointees were selected in line with ongoing efforts to reinforce the state’s administrative machinery and enhance service delivery to the public.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are:

The Commission noted that official dates for the swearing-in ceremony will be announced in due course, and extended warm congratulations to the appointees, urging them to justify the confidence placed in them by contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of Bayelsa’s civil service.
Governor Diri, who has been in office since 2020, has in recent years focused on strengthening governance and institutional capacity in the state, lifting previous bans on civil service recruitment and continuing to reform administrative structures to meet evolving needs.
The appointments signal the state’s commitment to bolstering its core administrative personnel and addressing strategic priorities in public service delivery as Bayelsa continues to tackle social and economic challenges under the current administration.
