APC Unveils 2026 National Convention Sub-Committees, Names Fubara Co-Chair of Election Appeal Panel

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced the composition of sub-committees for its 2026 National Convention, setting the stage for what the party describes as a transparent, credible and well-coordinated exercise.

In a press statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party disclosed that the committees have been carefully constituted to oversee critical operational, administrative, electoral, logistics, security and programme activities necessary for the seamless conduct of the convention.

Of particular note is the appointment of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as Co-Chairman of the Election Appeal Committee — a strategic role that places him at the heart of the convention’s dispute resolution process.

Key Appointments

Leading the Aspirants’ Screening Committee is Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, with Governor Usman Ododo as Co-Chairman and former Senate President Ken Nnamani as Vice Chairman.

The Screening Appeal Committee will be chaired by Governor Umar Namadi, alongside Governor Francis Nwifuru as Co-Chairman and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as Vice Chairman.

Former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari heads the Election Committee, with former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim as Co-Chairman. Governors Uba Sani and Monday Okpebholo serve as Vice Chairmen.

The Election Appeal Committee is chaired by Governor Agbu Kefas, with Governor Fubara as Co-Chairman and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as Vice Chairman.

Other notable appointments include Governor Douye Diri as Co-Chairman of the Security Committee alongside Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu as Vice Chairman.

Governor Hope Uzodimma will chair the Finance Committee, with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Co-Chairman.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio heads the Ceremonial, Programme and Events Committee, supported by Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas.

APC Reaffirms Commitment to Credible Convention

According to the party, the committees are mandated to ensure strict adherence to the APC Constitution and approved guidelines.

“The Party urges all Committee members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence,” the statement read, adding that the APC remains committed to strengthening internal democracy and consolidating its progressive ideals through a credible National Convention.

The announcement signals the formal commencement of high-level preparations for the 2026 convention, widely seen as a defining moment for the ruling party ahead of future electoral cycles.
