The Wakirike Ethnic Nationality has announced plans to host a Grand Civic Reception in honour of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Dr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026, will take place at St. Martin’s School Field, Ogu, in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State, with activities commencing at 11:00 a.m.
According to the organisers, the reception is aimed at recognising Chief Wike’s leadership and his relationship with the Wakirike people. The gathering is expected to attract traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders and dignitaries from across the Niger Delta and beyond.
The Royal Father of the Day will be His Royal Majesty, Dr. Ateke Michael Tom, JP, the Amanyanabo of Ancient Okochiri Kingdom. The Chairman of the Occasion is Amaopusenibo Wilcox Idaminabo, Ph.D., a retired Assistant Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Serving as Chief Host is Chief Hon. Boma Iyaye Fifikachiri V, Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), while the Organising Committee Chairman is Chief Senator George Thompson Sekibo, CON, DSSRS, JP.
Organisers described the reception as a significant moment for the Wakirike Nation, noting that it reflects their collective appreciation of Chief Wike’s contributions and leadership over the years.
The event is expected to feature cultural displays, goodwill messages and formal presentations in celebration of the FCT Minister.
