His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Governor of Rivers State, has approved the appointment of five new Special Advisers as part of a strategic reconstitution of his administrative team ahead of the new year.
The appointments were announced in an official government release signed by Dr. Honour Sirawoo, mni, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications. The appointees are:
- Barrister Olisaelloka Tasie‑Amadi
- Professor Peter Medee
- Barrister Emmanuel Frank Fubara
- Hon. Victor Ekaro
- Dr. Darlington Oji
According to the statement, the selected officials will be formally sworn in tomorrow, Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt. The ceremony is scheduled to begin promptly at 12:00 noon, with invitees expected to be seated by 11:30 a.m. ahead of the proceedings.
The new Special Advisers are expected to provide strategic counsel across a range of policy areas to enhance governance and service delivery in the state.
Governor Fubara’s appointments follow a period of significant administrative reorganisation. According to Asaba Metro, earlier cabinet changes included the appointment of Hon. Benibo Anabraba as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in October 2025.
The governor, an accountant‑turned‑politician who first assumed office in May 2023, has navigated periods of political turbulence, including legal challenges and leadership contestations inside the state assembly. Reuters reports that these appointments come after the lifting of a six‑month state of emergency in Rivers State by the federal government in September 2025, a move that restored normalcy to the state’s political environment.
Political analysts say the fresh appointments signal Governor Fubara’s intent to consolidate his leadership team and deepen policy focus in the areas of governance, economic development, and public service in Rivers State, a step welcomed by stakeholders across the state. (Wikipedia)
