The Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Dr. Benibo Anabraba, has officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant political development in the state.
Dr. Anabraba completed his registration on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Ward 1, Unit 1, Bob-Manuel’s Compound, Abonnema, in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Speaking after the exercise, the SSG said the registration formally affirms his membership of the APC and enables him to actively participate in the party’s activities. He noted that his decision aligns with his commitment to support the Rivers First agenda of Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, as well as the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Dr. Anabraba emphasized that a strong synergy between the Rivers State Government and the Federal Government would yield greater dividends for the people of the state, adding that his move is geared towards fostering development and effective governance.
Earlier, in a letter titled “Resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” Dr. Anabraba formally announced his exit from the PDP, describing the decision as a personal one. He expressed gratitude to the party for the political opportunities and leverage he enjoyed during his period of membership and wished the PDP well in its future endeavors.
The development has continued to generate reactions across the political landscape of Rivers State, as stakeholders assess its implications for governance and party politics ahead of future engagements.
