The Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), Rivers State Chapter, has held a special prayer session to commit the affairs and activities of the union for the year 2026 into the hands of God.
Speaking during the prayer session, Chairman of the union in Rivers State, Comrade Chukwuka Richman Osumah, said the exercise was aimed at dedicating the union, its leadership and members to God as they begin the new working year.
Osumah explained that the prayer session is an annual tradition of the union, stressing that placing God first remains critical to the success of civil servants and the effective discharge of their duties.
According to him, the union considered it necessary to seek divine guidance, protection and direction as civil servants return fully to work, noting that all programmes, engagements and activities of the NCSU for the year have been handed over to God.
The NCSU chairman used the occasion to urge civil servants across Rivers State to remain steadfast in prayers, particularly for the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara,and the continued peace and stability of the state.
He called on workers to support the Governor through prayers and unity, emphasizing that distractions capable of undermining governance, peace and development in the state should be resisted.
Osumah further encouraged the Governor to remain focused and undistracted, assuring him of the unwavering support of civil servants in the state.
According to him, civil servants will continue to pray for the governor, stressing that any attack on the governor ultimately affects the welfare and stability of workers in the state.
On the cleric selected for the prayer session, Osumah disclosed that the programme was officiated by Pastor Godswill Eyite, Founder and General Overseer of Citadel of Victory and Celebration International Church, Port Harcourt, who has consistently ministered at the union’s annual prayer programmes.
The prayer session featured intercessory prayers for Rivers State, the governor, civil servants and peaceful coexistence, as the union reaffirmed its commitment to faith, unity and dedicated service in the year ahead.
