Lady Valerie Fubara Celebrates 2026 New Year Babies at RSUTH
The Wife of the Governor of Rivers State, Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, has marked the beginning of the 2026 New Year with a visit to the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), Port Harcourt, to celebrate babies born at the dawn of the year.

Lady Fubara, who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Roseline Uranta, said the annual visit reflects the commitment of the Rivers State Government to the welfare of women, children and families across the state. She described the initiative as a symbolic gesture of love, hope and encouragement to parents, while welcoming the newborns as blessings to their families and the state at large.
According to her, beyond material support, prayers, proper upbringing and sustained parental guidance remain essential in nurturing children into responsible and productive members of society. She urged parents to take advantage of available healthcare and social support programmes provided by the government to ensure the well-being of their children.

Mrs Uranta also commended doctors, nurses and other medical personnel at RSUTH for their dedication to duty, particularly during the festive period, noting that their professionalism and sacrifice were critical to ensuring safe deliveries and quality healthcare services.

Babies celebrated during the visit included Nsoror Enobong Sunday, who weighed 3.8kg and was born at 9:45am on New Year’s Day; a set of twins, Kamisiyochukwu and Chikasome Emeh; and Dominion John.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Professor Chidindu Alikor, expressed gratitude to the Rivers State Government for its continued support to the hospital, especially in infrastructural development, which he said has significantly improved service delivery and patient care.

The visit climaxed with the presentation of gifts to the newborns on behalf of the Rivers State Government, as parents of the babies expressed appreciation for the show of care and encouragement at the start of the New Year.
