Fubara at 51: Opunabo Benibo, Former Degema Caretaker Committee Member, Felicitates Rivers Governor


Port Harcourt, Rivers State — A former Caretaker Committee member of Degema Local Government Area, Mr. Opunabo Benibo, has congratulated the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on the occasion of his 51st birthday, describing him as a leader committed to grassroots development and inclusive governance.

Mr. Benibo, an indigene of Tombia community in Degema Local Government Area, is a graduate of Political Science from the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE). He also holds a Master’s degree in Local Government Administration from the same institution and is currently a PhD candidate.

He is a former member of the immediate past Caretaker Committee of Degema Local Government Area set up by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, where he served as Supervisor for Youth and Sports.
According to Benibo, the appointment reflected the governor’s confidence in young professionals and his commitment to strengthening local government administration. He noted that during his tenure, efforts were made to promote youth engagement and sports development as part of broader community development initiatives in the area.

Felicitating Governor Fubara at 51, Benibo commended the governor’s calm leadership style, emphasis on peace, and dedication to people-oriented governance across Rivers State. He said the governor’s approach has continued to inspire confidence among grassroots stakeholders, particularly the youth.

He wished Governor Fubara good health, wisdom, and continued success in steering the affairs of Rivers State, while reaffirming his support for initiatives aimed at promoting youth empowerment, grassroots development, and good governance in Degema Local Government Area and the state at large.
