Umuahia — Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has signed into law the ₦1.016 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill, describing it as a bold and forward-looking fiscal roadmap designed to fast-track development and unlock new opportunities for the state.
Governor Otti, while assenting to the bill on Wednesday, said the 2026 budget—aptly titled the “Budget of Acceleration and New Possibilities”—reflects his administration’s unwavering commitment to building a prosperous Abia where infrastructure works for the people and opportunities abound.
According to the governor, the budget places strong emphasis on capital investments, with priority sectors including healthcare, education, infrastructure development, and economic empowerment, in line with the administration’s development agenda.
He commended the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, and members of the legislature for their diligence, speed, and professionalism in the consideration and passage of the bill.

“Your attention to detail, rigorous scrutiny, and collaborative spirit exemplify the kind of democracy we are building in Abia,” Otti said, noting that effective partnership between the executive and legislature remains critical to sustainable governance.
Governor Otti also praised members of his executive team and technical advisers for their dedication and hard work in preparing the budget, often under intense timelines. He noted that the approved budget figures remained intact, with the capital-to-recurrent expenditure ratio preserved, underscoring the administration’s focus on long-term, sustainable development.

Reaffirming his administration’s resolve, the governor said the signing of the budget marks another important milestone in Abia’s transformation journey.
“Let us keep building the Abia of our dreams. The journey continues,” Otti declared.
