NCSU Urges Rivers Lawmakers to Collaborate With Governor Fubara for State Stability

The Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) has appealed to members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to work harmoniously with Governor Siminalayi Fubara in order to sustain peace and avoid a resurgence of political tension in the state.

The call was made by the Rivers State Chairman of the NCSU, Comrade Chukwuka Richman Osumah, during an interview with journalists in Port Harcourt. His appeal comes in the wake of renewed political friction following the recent defection of 17 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Osumah expressed concern that the escalating rift could destabilize governance and stall development projects. He noted that residents were still recovering from the difficulties experienced during the past six-month political crisis in the state.

He urged lawmakers to prioritize peace and maturity, stressing that cooperation with the executive would help maintain stability.

According to him, Governor Fubara has consistently shown commitment to the welfare of Rivers people, including members of the state legislature. He added that issues such as the completion of the Assembly complex should not be misinterpreted or allowed to generate further conflict.

“The lawmakers should show maturity and restraint,” Osumah said. “Working harmoniously with the Governor is essential for the progress of our state.”

He further assured that civil servants in the state remain supportive of the Governor and expressed optimism that the festive season would bring policies that would improve the well-being of workers and residents.

Osumah reaffirmed that civil servants are committed to supporting the administration as the state navigates its current political challenges.
