The Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Her Excellency, Lady Valerie Fubara, has charged children across the state to be obedient, respectful and to uphold good conduct as worthy ambassadors of Rivers State.
Lady Fubara gave the admonition on Friday, December 26, 2025, during a Special Christmas Party organised for children at the Government House, Port Harcourt, as part of activities marking the 2025 Christmas celebrations.
Addressing the children, she urged them to remain focused and diligent in their studies and personal pursuits, emphasising that discipline, good character and commitment to positive values are essential foundations for a successful future and a better society.
She explained that the Christmas party was organised to demonstrate love and care for children and to give them a sense of belonging during the festive season. She also encouraged them to continually pray for peace, unity and progress in Rivers State as the year 2026 approaches.
Lady Fubara further advised the children to be obedient to their parents, respectful to elders and responsible in the use of electronic gadgets, stressing the importance of good behaviour both at home and in public.
“I pray that God will keep us all in good health, usher us safely into 2026, and grant us the grace to continue to gather in love and unity to celebrate together,” she said.
The event was graced by the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof. Mrs. Ngozi Nma Odu; the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh; the Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi Brown; Permanent Secretaries; and other top government officials.
The highlight of the celebration was the cutting of a special Christmas cake by Lady Valerie Fubara, amid cheers and excitement from the children, marking a memorable moment in the festive gathering.
